Our Stories

Performance Poetry & Spoken Word

Our performance poetry workshops are led by Artistic Director Chris, a professional poet and playwright, and can be adapted for any age.

We work with your students in an accessible and inclusive way. Starting with performing skills and games, we create a supportive, collaborative environment where children feel safe to take creative risks. Then we introduce simile, metaphor, rhythm and rhyme, and get students excited about writing poems.

In the past we’ve run one-off Introduction to Performance Poetry Workshops, full poetry weeks ending in a school assembly where every class performs an original piece, compiled multi-school poetry books and made poetry films allowing teenagers to share their personal voices. We’ve run everything from multi-sensory poetry workshops about the Seaside to rap battles based on the War of the Roses.

We would love to chat about how we can make a workshop that fits your needs, and have examples of past projects that we can share.
