Young company
Our Young Company creates opportunities for young people 11-18 to gain experience shadowing and volunteering professional theatre artists, and creating their own events, writing and performances that aspire to a professional level.
YOUNG
producers
Our Young Producers youth leadership scheme enables young people 11-18 to develop skills and experience across theatre; in producing, directing, design and technical roles. Led by Creative Producing Director Rheanna, the group is currently made up of ten young people from across our three youth theatre communities. The group take part in masterclasses with professionals from comparable backgrounds to their own, visit arts and culture venues across the city, and contribute to Brave Words professional productions.
YOUNG
writers
Young Writers runs monthly at Beeston Village Community Centre. It’s a group where 11-18 year olds can work on their writing, learn story structure, poetic techniques, character creation, share feedback with each other, develop their work and create pieces together with Artistic Director Chris.
The group is open to young writers who don’t access our other groups! If you’re interested, we’d like to see some of your writing. This could be any kind of writing –— poetry, plays, film scripts, stories, lyrics – the important thing is that it’s something you’re proud of, and something that represents you and your voice.
YOUNG PERFORMERS
Led by Youth and Education Director Fran, our Young Performers group is made up of young people 11-18 who are aspiring to enter the theatre industry as performers. They meet as an equal theatre ensemble to create pieces of theatre that aspire to professional level, and are often inspired by Brave Words’ touring shows. Our aspiration is that they will one day tour their own work.
